{"id":7249,"date":"2022-01-18T17:01:49","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T17:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irsg.bcs.org\/informer\/?p=7249"},"modified":"2022-01-18T17:01:49","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T17:01:49","slug":"ecir-2022-10-14-april-the-latest-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive-irsg.bcs.org\/informer\/?p=7249","title":{"rendered":"ECIR 2022 10-14 April &#8211; the latest news"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 44th European Conference on Information Retrieval (<a href=\"https:\/\/ecir2022.org\/\">ECIR&#8217;22<\/a>) will be held in Stavanger, Norway, between April 10 and 14, 2022. It will be the northern-most location in the history of ECIR, with the Norwegian fjord region offering some of the most majestic and spectacular scenery in the world. With its intimate and mostly pedestrian centre, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitnorway.com\/places-to-go\/fjord-norway\/the-stavanger-region\/\">the city<\/a> is a truly unique destination, surrounded by mountains, beaches and the sea.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is organized by the Information Access and Artificial Intelligence group at the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering at\u00a0the University of Stavanger. The IAI group&#8217;s mission is to build novel information retrieval and web mining solutions for next generation search\u00a0engines and intelligent systems, by combining data-driven approaches with human-centered design. The group plays a key role in two of the national\u00a0AI centers by leading and contributing to work packages on language technology, personalization, and media content production and analysis. It also\u00a0has a growing network of international collaborations, including top industry players (such as Google and Bloomberg) and academic institutions (e.g.,\u00a0Carnegie Mellon University, University of Amsterdam, and L3S Research Center).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The conference will start with a workshop day, followed by the main conference featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/ecir2022.org\/program\/accepted-papers\/\">full, short, and reproducibility papers<\/a> as well as\u00a0demonstrations spread over three days. The doctoral consortium and industry day are scheduled to run parallel on the fifth day, after the main\u00a0conference.<\/p>\n<p>The conference program will include plenty of opportunity for discussion and networking during lunches and coffee breaks, poster sessions, and\u00a0organized social events (such as the welcome reception and conference dinner). After the conference, an optional day will be arranged with\u00a0excursions. Participants may choose to hike to the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitnorway.com\/places-to-go\/fjord-norway\/ryfylke\/the-lysefjord-area\/hiking-to-preikestolen\/\">Pulpit Rock<\/a> or take a cruise up the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitnorway.com\/places-to-go\/fjord-norway\/ryfylke\/the-lysefjord-area\/\">Lysefjorden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After having the last two ECIRs as online-only events, we are especially excited to have an in-person event and meet again face-to-face.\u00a0Nevertheless, for those (less fortunate) who are unable to travel this time, a remote attendance option will also be provided.<\/p>\n<p>Krisztian Balog<br \/>\nECIR&#8217;22 general co-chair<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 44th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR&#8217;22) will be held in Stavanger, Norway, between April 10 and 14, 2022.
